Questions Pennsylvania homeowners ask

Do you cover my part of Pennsylvania?

We serve homeowners across much of the state, and the city list on this page shows where we schedule most often. If you do not see your town, call anyway. We cover a wide footprint across Pennsylvania and the surrounding states, and we will tell you straight whether we can get a truck to you.

My furnace quit on a cold night. What can I check before calling?

Check the thermostat first, including fresh batteries and that it is set to heat above room temperature. Look for a tripped breaker on the furnace circuit. Change the filter if it is loaded with dust, since a clogged filter can shut a furnace down on a high limit. Stop there. Anything involving gas, refrigerant or high voltage is ours to open, not yours. If you smell gas, leave the house, then call 911 or your gas utility from outside, then call us.

Why does my second floor stay hot when the AC runs all day?

In a lot of Pennsylvania homes the ductwork was added long after the house was built, so the upstairs runs are undersized, too long, or leaking into an unconditioned attic. Confirm your vents and returns are open and not blocked by furniture. Then we come measure airflow and static pressure and look at what the duct system is actually delivering. Air conditioner repair sometimes turns out to be a duct problem, not a compressor problem.

How soon can you get here?

Call and we will give you the real next opening rather than a guess. No heat and no cooling calls get moved up, especially with small children, older adults, or anyone with a health condition in the house. If we are booked out, we say so on the phone so you can plan.

What should I have ready when the tech arrives?

Know roughly how old the system is, whether anyone has worked on it recently, and what you noticed first, such as a noise, a smell, warm air from the registers, or a breaker that keeps tripping. Clear a path to the furnace or air handler and to the outdoor unit, and pull leaves and grass clippings away from the condenser coil. If you have paperwork from past heater repair or AC repair visits, set it out.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form and describe what changed. Warm air, no air, a smell, a noise, a breaker that keeps tripping. Details on the phone shorten the visit considerably.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical connections, the outdoor unit and the heat exchanger side before naming a cause. You get the finding in plain words, not a parts list you cannot read.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the repair

We explain what failed, what it takes to fix it, and what happens if you wait. Nothing gets replaced without your say so. Most common repairs are handled the same visit.

Why homeowners call us

  • Old housing stock is normal hereBasements with converted octopus trunk lines, ducts retrofitted around joists, returns that were never sized right. We work in these houses constantly and we size the repair to the house you actually have.
  • Long heating seasonsFurnaces in this region run hard from October into April, and lake effect stretches it further. We know what wear looks like at that mileage, from cracked igniters to blower motors that have been dragging for two winters.
  • Cooling and heating bothOne crew for air conditioning repair and heating repair. The same ductwork moves air in July and January, so a technician who understands both sides catches problems a single-season contractor tends to walk past.
  • Plain talk about repair versus replaceSometimes a part fixes it for years. Sometimes you are putting money into a system that is done. We tell you which one we think you are looking at and why, then leave the decision with you.
  • All major brands, gas & electricIndependent service on Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, York and the rest.
  • Straight answersNot worth fixing? We say that out loud, and often it saves you the visit fee.
