Homeowners' pick for heating and cooling across northeast Ohio and the Western Reserve

Mini-Split Repair — Book a Visit Today

We repair ductless mini-splits and multi-zone systems in homes across Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, and you can book a visit whenever a head stops heating or cooling. Common failures include clogged indoor coils and blower wheels, blocked condensate drains that leak down the wall, failed outdoor fan motors and control boards, refrigerant loss at the line-set flare connections, and communication faults between the outdoor unit and one or more heads. A visit starts with what you noticed, then we read the error code, check the head, measure at the outdoor unit and inspect the line set. We explain what failed and what the repair takes before we start. Call us with the brand and how many heads you have.

The mini-split symptoms we hear most

  • One head blows nothing while the others run fine Indoor blower motor, head control board or a zone communication fault
  • Water is dripping down the wall under the indoor unit Blocked condensate drain, slipped drain line or a frozen coil thawing
  • The heads run but the air is barely cool Dirty indoor coil and filters, low refrigerant charge or a struggling compressor
  • There is a musty smell every time it starts up Biological growth on the blower wheel and coil, plus a slow-draining pan
  • The outdoor unit hums but the fan will not spin Failed fan motor, capacitor or outdoor control board

People call this mini-split repair or ductless AC repair. Same visit, same written quote, same technician.

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Check that the remote or wall control has fresh batteries and is set to heat or cool with a target temperature the room has not already reached.
  • 2Look at your electrical panel for a tripped breaker on the mini-split circuit, and stop there if it trips again after being reset once.
  • 3Slide out and rinse or replace the washable filters in each indoor head, since even light dust on those thin screens cuts airflow quickly.
  • 4Clear leaves, grass clippings, mulch and snow drift away from the outdoor unit so air moves freely through the coil.

Mini-Split Repair — quick answers

Why is only one of my mini-split zones not working?

Multi-zone systems share one outdoor unit but each head has its own board, blower and control wiring. A single dead zone usually points to that head or its communication line, not the whole system. We test the head first, then the shared components.

Is water leaking from the indoor head an emergency?

It is not a safety emergency, but it damages drywall and flooring fast, so shut the head off and call us. The cause is almost always a plugged condensate drain or a slipped line. We clear the drain and check the pan slope.

Can a mini-split be repaired or does it need replacing?

Most failures we see are repairable: drains, filters, blower wheels, capacitors, fan motors and boards. Replacement gets discussed when a compressor fails on an older system or when a leak sits inside an indoor coil. We tell you which one you have.

Why does my mini-split smell musty?

Moisture stays on the indoor coil and blower wheel, and dust feeds growth there. Rinsing the filters helps a little, but the smell usually needs a deep cleaning of the wheel and coil. That is a service call, not a filter change.

My mini-split heats poorly on the coldest days. Is it broken?

Maybe not. Heat pumps produce less heat as outdoor temperatures drop, and a long winter in this region pushes them hard. Still, weak heat often means a dirty coil, low charge or a defrost problem, all of which we can measure.

Do you work on mini-splits someone else installed?

Yes. We repair ductless and multi-zone systems regardless of who put them in. Line-set flare joints and undersized head placement from a rushed install are a frequent source of trouble, and we will tell you plainly what we find.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form and describe what changed. Warm air, no air, a smell, a noise, a breaker that keeps tripping. Details on the phone shorten the visit considerably.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical connections, the outdoor unit and the heat exchanger side before naming a cause. You get the finding in plain words, not a parts list you cannot read.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the repair

We explain what failed, what it takes to fix it, and what happens if you wait. Nothing gets replaced without your say so. Most common repairs are handled the same visit.

Why homeowners call us

  • Old housing stock is normal hereBasements with converted octopus trunk lines, ducts retrofitted around joists, returns that were never sized right. We work in these houses constantly and we size the repair to the house you actually have.
  • Long heating seasonsFurnaces in this region run hard from October into April, and lake effect stretches it further. We know what wear looks like at that mileage, from cracked igniters to blower motors that have been dragging for two winters.
  • Cooling and heating bothOne crew for air conditioning repair and heating repair. The same ductwork moves air in July and January, so a technician who understands both sides catches problems a single-season contractor tends to walk past.
  • Plain talk about repair versus replaceSometimes a part fixes it for years. Sometimes you are putting money into a system that is done. We tell you which one we think you are looking at and why, then leave the decision with you.
  • All major brands, gas & electricIndependent service on Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, York and the rest.
  • Straight answersNot worth fixing? We say that out loud, and often it saves you the visit fee.
