Homeowners' pick for heating and cooling across northeast Ohio and the Western Reserve

Ductless Mini-Split Installation

We install ductless mini-split systems in homes across Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. A mini-split pairs an outdoor unit with one or more indoor heads, giving you cooling and heating in rooms that ductwork never reached: a finished attic, a converted porch, an addition, a stone-walled basement office. If a room in your house stays hot in July and cold in January no matter what the thermostat says, call us and we will come look at the space and talk through options.

What the installation actually involves

We mount the indoor head on an exterior or interior wall, set the outdoor unit on a pad or wall bracket, and run the refrigerant lines, condensate drain and power through a small penetration in the wall. Line sets get routed where they will not fight your siding or trim. On older homes with plaster and lath or full masonry, we plan that path before we drill anything. Then we charge the system, test operation in both cooling and heating, and walk you through the remote and settings.

What we check before and during the work

First we measure the room and look at what it is fighting: window area, insulation, ceiling height, sun exposure, how many people use it. That gives us the BTU capacity, and undersizing or oversizing both cause problems. We check the electrical panel for available circuit space, confirm a sensible outdoor location with drainage and clearance, and look at where condensate will go. After startup we verify line set connections, airflow at the head, and that the system holds temperature without short cycling.

How we decide ductless is the right call

Ductless makes sense when adding or extending ductwork is impractical or expensive: an addition off the back, a garage conversion, a third floor with one undersized register, a room the existing system has never satisfied. It also fits homes with no ducts at all, like older places on boiler heat. If your ducts are sound and reach the space, a repair or a change to the central system may serve you better, and we will say so instead of selling a head you do not need.

Ductless Mini-Split Installation — quick answers

Can one outdoor unit run more than one indoor head?

Yes. Multi-zone systems run several indoor heads off a single outdoor unit, each with its own temperature setting. We size the outdoor unit for the combined load, so tell us every room you eventually want covered.

Does a mini-split heat as well as cool?

Most systems do both. Heat pump mini-splits pull heat from outdoor air even in cold weather, though performance falls as temperatures drop. In long regional winters, many homeowners run one alongside their existing heating rather than replacing it.

How big is the hole through my wall?

Usually around three inches, sloped for drainage and sealed on both sides. We place it behind the indoor head where it stays out of sight, and we plan the route before drilling on older wall construction.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form and describe what changed. Warm air, no air, a smell, a noise, a breaker that keeps tripping. Details on the phone shorten the visit considerably.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical connections, the outdoor unit and the heat exchanger side before naming a cause. You get the finding in plain words, not a parts list you cannot read.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the repair

We explain what failed, what it takes to fix it, and what happens if you wait. Nothing gets replaced without your say so. Most common repairs are handled the same visit.

Why homeowners call us

  • Old housing stock is normal hereBasements with converted octopus trunk lines, ducts retrofitted around joists, returns that were never sized right. We work in these houses constantly and we size the repair to the house you actually have.
  • Long heating seasonsFurnaces in this region run hard from October into April, and lake effect stretches it further. We know what wear looks like at that mileage, from cracked igniters to blower motors that have been dragging for two winters.
  • Cooling and heating bothOne crew for air conditioning repair and heating repair. The same ductwork moves air in July and January, so a technician who understands both sides catches problems a single-season contractor tends to walk past.
  • Plain talk about repair versus replaceSometimes a part fixes it for years. Sometimes you are putting money into a system that is done. We tell you which one we think you are looking at and why, then leave the decision with you.
  • All major brands, gas & electricIndependent service on Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, York and the rest.
  • Straight answersNot worth fixing? We say that out loud, and often it saves you the visit fee.
