Homeowners' pick for heating and cooling across northeast Ohio and the Western Reserve

Ductwork Repair — Book a Visit Today

We repair, seal and replace residential ductwork across Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Duct problems usually start where the metal was never sealed properly: open seams at the plenum, disconnected branch runs in a crawlspace, crushed flex in a tight joist bay, or old retrofit trunks that leak most of their air into the basement. A visit starts with a walkthrough of the rooms that never feel right, then we follow the duct back to the equipment, check static pressure and airflow at the registers, and look for the leaks and restrictions doing the damage. You get the findings in plain language with the repair options laid out. Call us and we will get a technician scheduled.

The ductwork symptoms we hear most

  • One bedroom never gets warm no matter what I set the thermostat to Disconnected or crushed branch run, or a duct leaking into an unconditioned space
  • The furnace runs and runs but the air out of the vents feels weak High static pressure from undersized or restricted duct, or major return leakage
  • The upstairs is stuffy in summer and the basement is freezing Supply imbalance and uninsulated trunk lines dumping cooled air where nobody lives
  • We dust constantly and the filter looks clean Return-side leaks pulling dirt from basements, crawlspaces and wall cavities
  • The ducts bang, whistle or rumble when the system kicks on Loose sheet metal, unsupported joints, or airflow squeezing through a restriction

People call this ductwork repair, air duct repair or duct sealing. Same visit, same written quote, same technician.

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Check the thermostat: fresh batteries, set to heat or cool, and the fan set to auto rather than off.
  • 2Change or replace the air filter if it is loaded, since a dirty filter starves airflow and mimics duct problems.
  • 3Walk the house and confirm supply and return vents are fully open and not blocked by furniture or rugs.
  • 4Look at the electrical panel for a tripped breaker on the furnace, air handler or outdoor unit circuit.

Ductwork Repair — quick answers

How do you find a duct leak without tearing my house apart?

We start where the duct is accessible: basement, crawlspace, attic and mechanical room. Static pressure readings, register airflow and a visual inspection of seams and connections usually point to the problem area before anything gets opened up.

Is duct sealing worth it in an older home?

Often yes. Older homes frequently have trunk and branch joints held together with nothing but sheet metal screws, and cloth tape that dried out decades ago. Sealing those joints puts the air back into your rooms instead of the basement.

Do I need all new ductwork or can it be repaired?

Most systems need targeted repair, not full replacement. We replace ducts when flex is crushed and torn, when the metal is rusted through, or when the trunk is far too small for the equipment. Otherwise we seal and rebalance.

Will fixing my ducts help my rooms feel more even?

Usually. Room-to-room temperature swings often trace back to a leaking or disconnected branch, a squashed flex run or a return that cannot pull enough air. Repairing the duct and rebalancing airflow is what evens things out.

Can duct problems make my furnace or AC break down?

They can shorten its life. Restricted airflow raises static pressure, overheats heat exchangers and can freeze evaporator coils. If a system keeps short cycling or icing up, the duct is worth checking before replacing parts again.

How long does duct repair take?

A focused sealing and repair visit on accessible duct is often a day or less. Replacing a trunk line or reworking a poorly retrofit system takes longer, and we will tell you the scope after we walk the runs with you.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form and describe what changed. Warm air, no air, a smell, a noise, a breaker that keeps tripping. Details on the phone shorten the visit considerably.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical connections, the outdoor unit and the heat exchanger side before naming a cause. You get the finding in plain words, not a parts list you cannot read.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the repair

We explain what failed, what it takes to fix it, and what happens if you wait. Nothing gets replaced without your say so. Most common repairs are handled the same visit.

Why homeowners call us

  • Old housing stock is normal hereBasements with converted octopus trunk lines, ducts retrofitted around joists, returns that were never sized right. We work in these houses constantly and we size the repair to the house you actually have.
  • Long heating seasonsFurnaces in this region run hard from October into April, and lake effect stretches it further. We know what wear looks like at that mileage, from cracked igniters to blower motors that have been dragging for two winters.
  • Cooling and heating bothOne crew for air conditioning repair and heating repair. The same ductwork moves air in July and January, so a technician who understands both sides catches problems a single-season contractor tends to walk past.
  • Plain talk about repair versus replaceSometimes a part fixes it for years. Sometimes you are putting money into a system that is done. We tell you which one we think you are looking at and why, then leave the decision with you.
  • All major brands, gas & electricIndependent service on Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, York and the rest.
  • Straight answersNot worth fixing? We say that out loud, and often it saves you the visit fee.
